This week I invited guest blogger Kate from @myhomestyle89 to share with us her tips on how to create your own Scandinavian style office space at home.
"When styling any room the first thing to decide on is the colour pallete. I'm a sucker for neutrals and raw timber. It gives you an easy base to add your styling to!
For my office space I wanted something on trend yet practical. My office features a trestle table from Mocka Australia in white.
I chose a white Replica Furniture chair with timber legs to offset the white desk while still maintaining the clean lines.
The next thing to do is pick your art work.
Selecting art straight after your furniture ensures a cohesive feel and this is where you can decide on a colour to work with for the accent.
In my office I chose a Yorkelee print called Sailors Delight.
It has gorgeous grey and blue tones so I accessorised with grey tones to contrast my white desk, walls and chair.
Add some warmth to the room with soft furnishings. In this space I used a white floor rug from Kmart and draped a beautiful grey toned sheepskin from Milabert over the chair.
I think every office needs some shelving so you can change around the look and feel as you please.
I chose string shelving in white from Immy and Indi and selected some small understated neutral and timber decor pieces. Don't choose anything too dark or jarring for your shelving as you want the hero to be the artwork, let the art and draw your eye.
Add some greenery. Whether that be a plant or some gorgeous blooms to liven up the space.
I think the biggest mistake people make when styling is having too many overstated pieces and colours. I wanted my Scandi office space to be light and airy where there was minimal clutter and a nice bright open space, perfect for work!
So my biggest advice is less is more. Pull back and let the simplicity and clean lines shine!
Immy and Indi note: Other products not mentioned above are from:
Peonies print on the black poster hanger is by Yorkelee Prints
- Le Sac paper bag (shown here in brown) is available in white at Immy and Indi here
- The rolled up sheets in the Le Sac are from the Stendig Calendar which is another great Scandi item to include in your home office, and once you tear off each sheet as the months go by, you can roll each sheet up to save to use as some seriously stylish Christmas wrapping paper - its what all the cool kids are doing.
- The black rectangular storage tray is by Zakkia
